Victor Milard Velarde

Long before he was a father of four, and grandfather, he grew up in Arequipa Peru. He was the eldest son and devoted brother to his sister Betty and our extended family in Peru. He moved to NJ and later brought his sister Elisa and his brother Hector to the US. He married Florence Reichter Astete and moved to Perth Amboy, New Jersey. My father was a heavy equipment mechanic and his tireless work ethic enabled him to open his own business which concentrated on Mac Trucks and heavy equipment. He was generous, a dapper gentleman, a charming man with with an infectious laugh, quick wit and an incredible story teller. He lived a full life, driven by hard work, a passion for theatre, opera, ballet, foreign films, great conversation and he persued many creative endeavors. He had an engineer’s mind, artistic flair and always loved to learn new things. He enjoyed extensive travel in South America, loved seafood, cigars, classical music, and long dinners at the Ria-Mar.

Our father, the man we believe is the most interesting man in the world, passed away on August 11, 2023. We will miss him greatly.

He will always be remembered.
