In Loving Memory of Dino John Benos

Dino John Benos passed peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. Beloved husband to the late Gladys Benos (Colovos) and dedicated father to daughters, Stephanie Benos Tyler and Elaine Benos Davis (Ernie). Loving grandfather “Papou” to Daniele Davis (Andrew Schellenberg), Natalie Davis, and Drew Tyler (Chris Pease).

Born in Meligalas, Greece he came to St. Louis, Missouri in 1954 where he met and married his wife, Gladys, in 1955. Dino was a true visionary and opened three successful restaurants throughout his career.

He was an active member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) where he served on numerous committees. Dino was a founding father of the AHEPA Housing Projects. Today, this housing program provides affordable housing to thousands of low-income and disabled people across the United States.

When Dino and Gladys were not traveling the globe in their retirement, they spent their winters in Clearwater Beach. Dino was his happiest when his grandkids visited. These visits included endless hours of pool-time, beach-time and the family’s favorite card game, Liverpool.

Dino loved being an uncle and Godfather to many. His presence brought immense joy and his legacy will forever be cherished by those lives he touched.
